COOL ABU DHABI CHALLENGE
LOCATION: ABU DHABI, UAE
Cool Abu-Dhabi is a design competition challenge that calls for a design of a typical park all around Abu-Dhabi. The main goal was to incorporate innovative ideas to tackle climate change and provide solutions for the urban heat island effect.
The design concept was based on lily pads that organically creates a distinctive and forest-like spatial oasis experience of being immersed in nature within a bustling city. The project integrates innovation with landscape and strikes an optimal balance between the built and the natural environment. By integrating traditional and native tree species and the incorporation of lagoons and waterfalls, the proposal has the potential to achieve good thermal comfort and create a cooling microclimate.
